Post-Generic Filmmaking

The modern Hollywoods production has been named as Post generic filmmaking due to film directors combining two or more films together to make a better or superior film to those directors who just use one genre, e.g. combining a comedy and war film to make a comedy war drama.

Some times film directors get it wrong as maybe just one of the genres appeal to the audience and the other letting the film down, such as Wild Wild West as it didn't appeal to fans of the western genre and it wasn't seen as very funny. They can also go wrong if the director concentrates on one of the genres inparticular and not so much on the other, leaving the film half done and not to its full potential.

To me the most obvious film I have seen which has done this is Tropical Thunder, I felt they tried to be too funny at times and it wasn't as entertaining as i thought it could of been, perhaps if written by some one different but kept the same actors it could of lived up to its potential.

  1. Charlie you need to complete this work using the sheet you have been given on this topic. You need to cover each aspect detailed in the unit 3 section of the worksheet thoroughly applying it to Top Gun. Please take time to do this ASAP
